You're right about the expense.
I had Caller Line Identification enabled on one of my lines the other
day so that I can use Asterisk to block telemarketers but still enable
me to be selective about those whom I tell the method to circumvent the
block.
This service comes at $6 per month. Not much you might think, but I
look upon it as an impost, a tax even, to enable myself to have a less
harassed life without being asked, mostly in Chinglish, to churn my
telephone account, answer a survey, donate to some obscure charity,
subscribe to some obscure business directory, or have cladding installed
on my BV house.
