I wont bother to correct either Villasante's or DeLong's errors. 

Something else to think about however which is probably of greater
interest.

Most software in use today is a commodity, and where there are no 
artificial barriers (i.e vendor lock-in) the price of such commodity 
software strangely resembles the price paid for FOSS.

 Open source computing has sparked a revolution in South America, but the
 heads of Microsoft say they aren't losing any sleep over the trend. With
 developing countries the world over looking to cut IT costs, maybe they   
 should be.
