It doesn't much matter, Marghanita. To make a strident comment of my own, the banks are being dishonest to the point of "misleading and deceptive" going on about firewalls in association with personal banking.
You will certainly have to open ports 80 and 443. Does Joe Sixpack know how to do this? Yes, just press "ok" on the automatic rulemaker...
1) The firewall may not prevent Malware which is using an already-open port (ie port 80, 443 etc).
2) Unless the home user has reasonably strong expertise, the firewall won't stop outgoing connections from a Trojan, if they used automatic rules to allow (for example) outgoing e-mail.
3) The consumer has not the faintest hope of constructing a viable firewall ruleset.
So the banks are merely lying, absolutely through their teeth; moreover, they know they are lying. But they want to say "anything that happens now is your own fault".
