Here's some data about messages posted on the LINK list that I hope
people will find interesting. The data quantifies posting/reply
activity on the list.
Am working on some time-based Charts. Reply off-list for copies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Methodology:
I downloaded the message files from the mailman archive.
Data ended Mon Nov 21 16:21:18 2005.
For each month, I created summary files with lines starting 'From '
'In-Reply-To:' and 'Message-ID:'.
Messages without an 'In-Reply' I tagged as 'New Posts'.
I report 2 other numbers, "Total Posts" and "Replies" (Total - New)
Over 2004/5 there were 230 distinct 'From' addresses used to post.
I ranked From addresses by 'New Posts' for 2005.
i.e. 00001 is the most frequent sender of 'New Posts' for 2005
Half the total list activity comes from 8 addresses.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
New Posts 2005 - 1230 by 108 addresses
Total Posts 2005 - 4466 by 151 addresses
Replies 2005 - 3236 by 112 addresses
