around the same time, I reduced  disk storage by writing software to 
automatically delete old email from the inbox and read folders (ie 
messages  that hadn't been filed) and empty wastebaskets. I don't recall 
any complaints. Though I do recall some managers objecting to their 
staff getting email on the grounds they would communicate.

...some years later a friend said they needed a new computer because 
theirs wasn't working anymore - upon investigation the Browser Cache had 
never been emptied!
