On the 7.30 report last week, I caught a snippet of a woman talking
about a wireless service in Albury. Apparently it was one of the reasons
the council is no longer wedded
to Telstra and that they were happy for Telstra to be sold. However, I
couldn't find the reference to this in the 7.30 report archives - it was
possibly interesting story but a bit difficult to separate the pitch
(all these wonderful value add services that Telstra would never
provide) from the facts.
I couldn't find any more information on the net but in searching, I did
come across some other interesting snippets.

All HiBIS providers must offer at least one 'Threshold' service that must meet or exceed specific standards including minimum speeds and usage allowances, and be offered at or below maximum price limits. Providers also offer a range of 'Added Value' services. As more providers are being registered and HiBIS services are continually being updated in response to competition, DCITA recommends that prospective customers compare providers’ HiBIS plans by contacting the providers directly and/or checking their websites.
