Just received a report from a source who has one of the RFID'd bins in 
their yard...

the story has now appeared in the local paper relating the tag to 
weighing the garbage.

Apparently the bins have the address stuck on in big letters, a little 
disk and a little wheelie thing and it is on the Garbage, Recycling (all 
types) and Green (garden only?) waste bins. [Geoff care to tell us how 
to recognise a RFID?]

stories also floating around of cameras on trucks checking whether the 
garbage is acceptable (recycle stuff isn't contaminated) and my guess, 
tagging the photo with the RFID.

The residents got new bins (amidst furore of rate increases) but were 
not told about the RFIDs but my source went out and investigated when I 
filled her in on our discussions on link.

electorate.
