There seem to be a few rants going on, I watched what I could take of
the 7.30 report...there was some "poor" film production company who was
complaining they couldn't get enough bandwidth via the Internet...is it
only me that sees a problem with this argument?
Then there was the Internet Industry Association complaining that we had
fallen in ranking presumably for something to do with Internet/Broadband.
Then there was the ACCC having a rant that Telstra should have come to them.
Then someone from Optus...which I couldn't figure out what their point was.
Then Coonan, minister saying that access was not a problem in capital
which she listed...she hesitated on Perth, the Conroy, opposition
Coonan softly commented that the problem wasn't access but price - which
is no doubt the problem with the film maker example.
Frankly, people sending me 500k plus photos/documents because they don't
know how to reduce the
size really irritates me and that is putting it politely.
Conroy was on the radio this morning bemoaning the fact that everyone in
perth was still on dial up. Could be something to do with the fact that
Perth is one of the most sparseley populated cities in the world
probably up there with Canberra...ofcourse infrastructure is going to be
ADSL2 seemed to be tripping of all their tongues, though I am not sure
what it is.
Don't dismiss wireless and if Telstra is giving up fibre for wireless I
applaud this management decision.
The issue of the sale/the balance of part government/part private
ownership/Service obligation is worth discussing - but at the risk of
sounding troll like, it is the duty of Telstra management to fight as
hard as they can the board of telstra and government can sort out the rest.
I have shares in Telstra...first tranche was $3.30 second tranch at the
peak of the Dot/Com sharemarket Boom was $7.40. Should the profits be
returned to shareholders or used to roll out white elephants? It is this
influences (or should influence) the share price!
