In a court of law, it is the equivalent of writing on letterhead. In
practice, the tone and the direction of the content could possibly be
argued. However, the *principle* is that it is the letterhead
equivalent. And *can* be used for this purpose.

Only if the employer gives instructions to staff NOT to use e-mail
for non-work-related activity. This has been thrashed out ad nauseum
on Link and elsewhere before.
