This arguement just doesn't work.  The US is a republic and there is an 
even closer tie between church and state - even though the US 
constitution decrees otherwise.  Just look at the fundamentalist 
practices that Ashcroft tried to push on those who wotked at the DoJ 
when he was in charge there.
