Bore or recycled water aside (courses in California must use metered
irrigation water alone), golf courses in Australia still require a
good deal more water than your average water feature.
I wonder if any Australian golf course has begun to use the next-
generation synthetic grass?
Developments in polyethylene/silicone/rubber/polypropylene fibre
suggests that modern artificial turf is better than real grass
(indistinguishable, safer in colder weather, longer lasting, tougher,
and can be made from discarded rubber tyres).
