Smart people can write essays alone and drink cocktails with friends. They
can continue to be smart people in either situation. I've recently started
using Twitter again, and follow people whose ideas and lives I care about.
Even in their most facile vacuity, I often find insight and humour. :-)
Remember, mobile phones were -- once upon a time -- only used by asshats!
(I liken it to an IRC channel of global scope made up of only the people I
choose. I'm glad I "rediscovered" it.)
