.. until 386BSD/FreeBSD showed up, of course. (Ie, a UNIX on
what was arguably rooted in but not quite a microcomputer by then
"IBM PC".)

Point was, it still wasn't a UNIX workstation, it wasn't a UNIX
server, it was a home computer.

And Apple played quite a big part in that whole "computers everywhere"
thing, even if it was inadvertant.
