Here in Canberra, the local electricity supplier determined that less than 30% of homes were suitable for solar power generation.

If you trawl through the various online solar panel forums, you'll hear about the myriad of reasons why most roof spaces are hopeless for solar panels - primarily from shading, and wrong orientation. Shading can be as much as a single TV aerial mast, and has a significant impact on power generation.
