What it "allows" and what is possible are two quite different things.
However there does seem to be some subtle difference between how the
latest Macallif is stored and earlier episodes.

But we will never know what it is because in response to a politely
worded enquiry, with technical detail and request for more information,
I received a boiler plate "response to complaint", 4K of it, with
numerous links to pointless places, with a useful content of exactly
zero.

Yep - you are a member of the Chosen, the Microsoft Club. Closed formats
are OK and open standards don't matter, because "everyone" uses Windows,
for which Adobe still supports Flash.
