John,

noks bisi - I don't know where it started but it is used especially by many
young people to in many parts of PNG to express that One doesn't mind about
something bad being said or done to him/her. I guess it is kind of an idiom.
It also mean, " no bisi/no wari". eg. Jon, u tok mi wip yet. Dispela, u
mekim mi sem ya, tasol mi "Noks bisi/mi no bisi/mi no wari" tumas. In other
words, John said something bad to me but I don't mind at all(mi noks bisi
stret ya).

Gutela man!

I don't get 'noks bisi' - what's it from?

Givim bel -- you are quite right. Actually, Mihalic's full entry in the 1971
dictionary is:

'givim bel = to impregnate, to love (in Madang area)'

I don't know why he thought the 'love' meaning was restricted to Madang.
Perhaps Catholics used this meaning in church services around Madang, but
not elsewhere. Surely it is known everywhere today (if dangerous to use
because of the double meaning).
