A new meaning for <i>mange/manki</i>? <br><br>
In February 2003, an Australian volunteer couple went to Lumi (West Sepik
Province) to work on a project for the conservation of
"tenkile", the tree kangaroo species (<i>Dendrolagus
scottae</i>) restricted to that area. In November, they
reported:<br>
"After going on patrol to three eastern villages to conduct
distance sampling, Jim was given the name <i>mange bilong mountain
("</i>big hairy yeti of the mountains") by the villagers
"<br>
