<p><big><big><sub>As many of you will know, since 1996 there has
been an informal
interdiscipilinary discussion group at ANU called the
'Melanesia Symposium'. In
keeping with the broad Pacific interests of the group we
have decided to rename
it the 'Oceania Discussion Group'. As before, the group will
meet to discuss
recent publications of interest and work-in-progress by
members of the group.

incarnation will be on
Wednesday, 25 July at 2:00 in the larger of the two seminar

CHL Hub in the Coombs Building. The publication we will
discuss is Matt
Tomlinson's (2009) book 'In God's Image: The Metaculture of
Fijian
Christianity'. Matt has just joined the CAP Anthropology
Department and will be
with us for the discussion. He has selected about 40 pages
from the book that
we will be focussing on as core readings. Those pages are
available for
download from the Alliance site.<o:p></o:p></sub></big></big></p>
