<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">The State, Society and Governance in Melanesia Program at The Australian National University will be hosting the inaugural State of the Pacific conference on 25-26 June 2013 in Canberra.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">As part of the State of the Pacific conference a half-day session will be devoted to New Directions in Research, which aims to showcase current and recent PhD research and other
new research on the Pacific. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Applications are invited for scholars who wish to make a short presentation (up to 10 minutes) outlining their current research. There is some funding support (travel and accommodation)
for PhD students and early career researchers who wish to present in this session.
