<p class="MsoNormal">This is an invitation to apply for the annual Pacific institute publications subsidy. Applications close on 1 December 2015 and should be sent to
<a href="mailto:matthew.spriggs@anu.edu.au">matthew.spriggs@anu.edu.au</a> and will be considered by the Pacific Institute publications sub-committee, with a decision before the end of the year.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The subsidy is for an amount of a total of $2,500. Further details are below:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Wingdings">u</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">The grant is to assist in the publication of a scholarly work (which could be a journal article, a chapter or a book) of high quality and substantially
within the field of Pacific Studies, defined to include Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia including West Papua, but also covering the relationship of the Pacific region to other parts of the world<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Wingdings">u</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">ANU staff and students are eligible to apply, as well as Visiting Fellows from the Pacific and elsewhere<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Wingdings">u</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Very generally to assist in publication costs including but not limited to editorial work, indexing, illustrations, fees for images, translation
costs. The committee to decide if the claimed costs are appropriate<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Wingdings">u</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">No particular publisher is prescribed, but there must be evidence produced that the work has been accepted for publication<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Wingdings">u</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">A completed draft manuscript must be submitted for evaluation, along with reviewers reports from the publisher

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Wingdings">u</span><span style="font-size:14.0pt">No grant will be given if there are upfront royalties or other upfront payments resulting from publication. Grants are not retrospective for already
published works beyond the date of the previous round<o:p></o:p></span></p>
