Countries in the Pacific and South East Asia are amongst the most vulnerable to disasters and the impacts of climate change, but communities are already taking action to adapt and build resilience. Since 2010,
the Australian Government has invested 34 million dollars in the Community-based Climate Change Action Grants (CBCCAG)program. Through this program, 10 Australian and International Non-Government Organisations have worked with
local partners in Kiribati, Republic of Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, and Vietnam to build resilience to climate change and address development issues at local level.

At the end of this period, these projects have been evaluated and have shown real results in increasing the resilience of communities to the impacts of climate change, whilst achieving broader development outcomes,
including in food and livelihood security, economic empowerment, health, education and disaster risk reduction. In the lead up to COP21 in Paris, where crucial details of long-term mechanisms for adaptation finance will be agreed, it is timely to showcase
this important Australian-funded work and its relevance to our region and the world.

The panel will be followed by refreshments, and NGO will be available to provide more detailed information on specific projects. We hope that the event will be an opportunity to strengthen a network of NGO,
government, academic and community actors committed to advancing this innovative work in the face of climate change.
