<b><span style="margin: 0px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt">Alan Rumsey</span></b><span style="margin: 0px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt"><span> </span>is Professor of Anthropology at the ANU School of Culture, History and
Language, and a Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language. A Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and former President of the Australian Anthropological Society, Alan is an author and editor of eight books
and numerous papers in a career spanning over four decades. His research on highland Papua New Guinea and Aboriginal Australia has focused on intersubjectivity, child language socialisation, comparative poetics, language and politics, and indigeneity and the
state. It has been described as an impressive program to integrate questions of linguistic diversity with facets of human practice, cognition and art as studied within a wide range of human sciences centred around anthropology.</span></p>
