ANUgreen and the Sustainability Learning Community invite you to the
annual Great Green Debate on whether 'Water resources in Australia are a
fundamental constraint to population growth'. 

We live on the driest inhabited continent on Earth yet Australia is
sparsely populated. Australians are amongst the highest per capita water
users in the world although there are many improvements and efficiencies
to be made to reduce water consumption. Threats of unpredictable
rainfall patterns under regional climate change and unhindered
population growth worry Australians, however they also present
opportunities. 

Changing the way water is used in the Australian context, water-saving
technologies, policy mechanisms, behavioural change, pollution
prevention throughout waterways and land catchment management are a few
of the issues that shall be addressed in this topical debate during
National Water Week. 

An expert panel of academics and environmental professionals will debate
these issues and respond to related questions from the audience.

Wednesday 20 October, 2010 
Bruce Hall, Building 40, Daley Rd, ANU
Debate begins from 8 - 9:30pm in the Dining Hall.

Dress: smart casual.
Maximum of 120 people, bookings essential.
