<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>AGM (annual general
meeting)</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial><FONT size=2>Date: Wednesday 16th March. 8pm (or when
the sailing finishes and after the food has been
cooked)<BR><BR>Place: Sailing Club<BR></FONT><BR></FONT><FONT face=Arial

<BR><BR>Nominations can be made to Grant Warner ( </FONT><A
href="mailto:grant.warner@defence.gov.au"><FONT face=Arial
size=2>grant.warner@defence.gov.au</FONT></A><FONT face=Arial size=2> ) prior to
the meeting. If you are interested in particular positions, talk to Grant
or the committee person on what it involves and how much time. As with all
volunteer positions you will get more out than you put in because of the
satisfaction and new skills you will learn from taking a position of
responcibility! </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>What is really needed is some new faces
on the committee to replace the many committee members graduating this year
so get invovled! </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><FONT face=Arial><STRONG>Drinks
Sessions!<BR><BR></STRONG>After weekday sailing course sessions (~8pm) the usual
plan is to go for a few frinks at a local bar (often the Canberra
Yacht Club). All club members are encouraged to attend because it is an
excellent opportunity to meet other club members. If you want to confirm
location just ring Michael 0413 461 264, or Garrick 0404 292 691 or
the club phone on 6282 5121.</FONT></FONT></DIV></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Sunday 13th March (half of the group 10am to
2pm & half 2pm-6pm)</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Advanced Sailing
Sessions</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The club is organising for an advanced coach to do
some training sessions starting next week or the week after. These will probably
be on Tuesday afternoons. Details TBA.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Easter
Trip</STRONG></FONT></DIV></DIV></DIV></DIV>
<DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>For those who aren't aware University Championships
which was scheduled for easter has been cancelled. If you want to know why
it was cancelled you would have to ask </FONT><FONT face=Arial
size=2>Melbourne Uni Sailing Club however I would speculate that they
must be scared that we will beat them</FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>.
I </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>would have tho</FONT><FONT face=Arial
size=2>ugh that the </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>Sydney to
Hobart would give them ample experience at organising </FONT><FONT
face=Arial size=2>4 days of sailing and drinking but obviously not</FONT><FONT
face=Arial size=2>! </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Anyway, it has been suggested that the sailing club
go to the coast (possibly Eden) for 2 days at Easter to make up for the
lack of an intervarsity regatta. This would be a VERY
INFORMAL trip. If </FONT><FONT face=Arial
size=2>your interested put your name down on the list at a
training course session or the AGM. If you can't make any of
those RI</FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>NG (not email) me on 0404
292 691.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Tuross Trip 05 (approx 5:30pm Friday 8 -
Sunday 10 April)</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The plan is to go to the coast for the weekend,
camping by the beach. There is always a variety of activities such as sailing,
windsurfing, surfing, kayaking, relaxing on the beach and of course a BBQ and
beach party! The aim is to have an awesome weekend at the beach and for club
members to get to know each other in a relaxing environment! Tuross is the ideal
location for all this as we camp next to a surf beach, 5 minutes walk to the
village shops and 10 minutes drive from sheltered lakes! </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>If your interested ring me or email me. If emailing
include the following 3 things in the email. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Your mobile number</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Details of your car (age, model, can it
tow)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Details of your tent (how many people
it sleeps)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG></STRONG></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Membership Renewals & Card
Issue</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>2004 Membership is now expired. You can renew your
membership at club events or Training Course sessions. That means
Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. Also for those who did not
recieve a card because they don't have a valid student card you can collect your
card at any of these times.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>As usual the club is NOT going to remove old
members from the mailing list. Simply follow the link at the bottom of any
club emails and it will take you less than a minute to remove
yourself.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT><BR><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2>Lake
Wallagoot: weekend of 19-20 March (from Grant)</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>This is coastal lake, in a national park, about
halfway between Merimbula and Tathra on the south cost (just west of
Bega). It is about 3 hrs from Canberra via Cooma. There are 4 races
over the weekend starting at 11am on the Saturday.<BR><BR>The racing is very
relaxed and informal. The lake is about 1.5km in diameter and no more than
2m deep. If you don't want to race but just go sailing come along any
way. Accommodation is free and there is no power (no radios or mobile
phones).<BR><BR>I am going down along with at least 3 other Canberra sharpie
crews. A couple of other YMCA boat come for the fun and one of club members
should go home to see mum and dad (who sail at the club)<BR><BR>If you would
like to come, please see me (Grant). I may even be able to organise ride on a
sharpie for the weekend.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2><FONT face=Arial><STRONG>ACT Teams champs: (weekend of 19-20
March).</STRONG><BR><BR>The club will pay for a team to enter. If somebody wants
to organise a team of 6-8 people you will be able to compete.
</FONT></FONT><FONT size=2><FONT face=Arial>Given that this is run by the YMCA
all the organiser would need to do is advertise on the club email list and
divide interested persons into teams of 6-8 with a least 3 experienced skippers
per team. If you are able to organise this event let me
know.<BR></DIV></FONT></FONT>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT><BR><FONT size=2><FONT
face=Arial><STRONG>Bateman’s Bay Regatta 23-24 April</STRONG><BR><BR>The
traditional end of season regatta for many of the sailors from Canberra and an
annual trip for the ANUSC, this is a great weekend of competitive sailing on
open water. Put this date in your DIARY now.</FONT></FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Club House Access. (from Toen
Castle)</STRONG>
<DIV><BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am the club's Boat House officer, and as such
I'm responsible for organising member access to the boat shed. <BR><BR>ANUSC
members can use any boat which they can safely rig and sail . Club members can
sail for free on the general-use boat of their choice (I.e. the 4 Lasers, 2
Tasars, 1 Laser II, and several windsurfers). Please note that there are also
privately owned boats, and boats restricted for use in races, which are stored
in the boat shed. These boats are not to be used for general
sailing.<BR><BR>ANUSC members who can safely sail (with stamped membership card)
can sail for free at any time when the boat shed is open. The club tries to
ensure that this is the case 3-4 times per week, however the sailing courses
currently being run by the club take priority over general sailing, and so there
will be less access for the next few weeks. You may still be able to sail at
these courses if you contact Michael and are willing to take beginners
sailing.<BR><BR>In addition to these Open Hours (listed below), club members who
can safely sail (stamped membership card) can hire a boat shed key for 1 week,
for $5 plus a refundable $20 deposit.<BR><BR>Members can also take guests
sailing, however there MUST be a ANUSC member on board each boat. The pricing
structure for guests is under review, so please contact me for details (see
below), or wait for an upcoming email.<BR><BR>Open Hours for the next few
weeks:<BR><BR><BR>We will organise extra opening hours in the above time period
to make up for it being so busy, so stay tuned to this mailing list for more
details. To hire a key for $5 per week plus a refundable $20 deposit, please
