<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The YMCA Sailing Club now has a full time
sailing instructor working for 3 months over summer. His name is Dan and
he is on exchange from a prestigious English sailing school (you can
recognise him by the red YMCA instructors uniform or his English accent).
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Dan is running the Tuesday Twilight program and
using it as a way of improving the skills of beginners. Each Tuesday he is
running a theory session from 1700 followed by a sailing session from ~
1815-1930. Rather than just racing the Twilights will include a range
of basic boat handling skills that will help improve your sailing! A
program will be out soon outlining the focus for each twilight session.

<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Given Twilights are FREE (ANUSC pays) this
is the best opportunity you have to improve your sailing
skills!</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>If your interested in both the theory and
sailing turn up to the YMCA Sailing Club at 1700 then at 1800 move the
100m accross the bay to the ANUSC to rig and sail (if your late for
theory thats ok just walk in quietly).</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>If you only want to sail turn up to the ANUSC
around 1800. Adam Leavesley will be there most Tuesday nights and if not call
him and he will lend you a key </FONT><FONT color=#0000ff><FONT face=Arial

Adam or whoever is opening up will send out a reminder email the day
of Twilights so that you know they will be there.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>For those who think their sailing skills
are not good enough to participate</STRONG></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></STRONG> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Before going to twilights most ANUSC members
are concerned that they will be embarrassed because everybody else will
be better than them. Those who go quickly realise that most ANUSC
beginners straight off a beginners courses have better skills than other
participants (probably because our beginners courses are longer than other
clubs).</FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2> As an example last Tuesday four
races were held with ANU beginners dominating the results despite being vastly
outnumbered by YMCASC members. Claire Fraser skippered a Laser Radial and won
her first ever race and Adam Leavesley who has now been to 5 twilight
sessions dominated with two 1sts, a 2nd and a
3rd!</FONT></DIV>
