Twilight sailing skills courses and race training run by the YMCA Sailing
Club starts this Tuesday 21 November (full details from the instructor
below).<br><br>
Having just completed a beginners course with ANUSC, the next step in
your Olympic gold medal campaign is to come along to this. I went last
year and it's great. The instructor is really a gun and even just to see
how good a person can be at handling a dinghy is motivational.<br><br>
This year we need to cover costs, which are not high but nonetheless need
covering. <br><br>
You've got two options:<br><br>
1. Season ticket for $30. This gets you 18 sessions from 21 November to
27 March (with a short gap over Xmas), including first option on a club
boat.<br>
2. Casual attendance for $5 to be paid to myself or Claire Fraser on the
day - you take your chances getting a boat after the season ticket
holders.<br><br>
Places are limited by the number of boats, so if you want to do this get
back to me asap. NB On Twilight Tuesdays people with a season ticket have
priority for a boat, followed by people who are attending the session
casually and then after 6pm any left over boats are open to members for
general use.<br><br>
I'm not sure how I'm going to decide who gets to sail if we have more
takers than boats, but I'll cross that hurdle when I come to it if need
be. Needless to say the sooner you get back to me the better. Call if

With summer approaching, clocks going back, evenings becoming lighter for
longer and of-course, not forgetting those evening sea breeze easterlies!
It¢s time to remind you that Tuesday Twilight Sailing will be starting up
shortly, so pull out your dairies, calendars, write on your fridge!
Tuesday 21<sup>st</sup> November 2006! Come down to the YMCA Sailing Club
at about 4.50pm because we will kick off at 5pm!<br><br>

So what is Twilight Sailing? Some of you may be wondering! <br><br>
This is how I like to explain it: Twilight is in place to continue
developing your skills if you have just come off a training course. It's
there for people who may already race and want to get around the course
faster. It's there for those who want to get out on the water and have a
relaxing sail after a busy day at work. All evenings come with a hint of
racing, because learning to sail faster and more efficiently simply only
leads to one thing, that being racing!<br><br>
<br><br>
Twilight sailing is a weekly informal session, which runs every Tuesday
starting on the 21 Nov. right through til 27 Mar. with a break over
Christmas and New Years (18 sessions total). The session will be on come
rain or shine, wind or no wind.<br><br>
<br><br>
Twilight Sailing will generally follow this structure: -<br><br>
<br><br>
~ <b>5pm = </b>Sailors arrive, Sign in, discuss the session plan and do a
session of theory.<br><br>
~ <b>5.30pm = </b>Rig boats, get changed and Launch.<br><br>
~ <b>5.45pm = </b>Do some practical sailing exercises.<br><br>
~ <b>7.00pm = </b>Racing/Starting Practice (Short Courses).<br><br>
~ <b>7.15pm = </b>De-rig, get changed and have a short De-brief.<br><br>
~ <b>8pm = </b>Home time.<br><br>

The only time this structure may vary is if the weather doesn't let us
get out on the water, or if a guest coach comes in to run a session.<br>

$16 = Pacer Includes PFD<br><br>
$10 = Laser Includes PFD<br><br>
$8 = Topper Includes PFD<br><br>
$3 = PFD hire<br><br>

Sailors are more than welcome to bring their own boats, In-fact I would
encourage you to bring your own boats to get the full benefit from the
session.<br><br>
