Hello everybody,
Since next sunday is supposed to be sunny, we are organizing a little
race to enjoy Lake Burley Griffin while discovering the magical (and
somewhat unlogical) world of the regatta sailing rules.
The afternoon would start at 1:30pm at the sailing club with a little
explanation of said rules and the setting up of the teams. The idea is
to start the race at 2:30pm, and finish the afternoon with a BBQ.
The race is going to be a team race, i.e. points are awarded by teams, an cooperation is rewarded. This kind of racing is the best to accommodate many different levels on the water.
The regatta is open to everybody, especially to new-comers, and can be
a very good experience to start racing in a very informal environment.
Please email me Jean-Francois.Morizur@normalesup.org if you are interested, and come along on Sunday.
See you
JF
PS: for those of you willing to get a feel of the sailing rules,
please have a look at http://www.ussailing.org/rules/RulesInBrief.htm,
and check out rule 14 (makes sense doesn't it?).

--
Jean-François Morizur
PhD Student
LKB Jussieu, Paris - ACQAO ANU, Canberra
Jean-Francois.Morizur@normalesup.org
