Ahoy everyone,

Its the final sailing week of the season, so now's your last chance to get out on the water. The club championships are this weekend. It should be pretty good fun and relaxed. All sailors welcome.

1. ANZAC Day Sailing
Public Holiday. Perfect time for a
sail. I'll be opening the shed on Wednesday afternoon 2pm - 5:30pm. Your
last chance for midweek sailing.

2. Club Championships & Shed Closing Party - Saturday 28th April
The big end of season event for the ANUSC. We'll be holding a
mini-regatta for club members in the lasers and tasars. The races will
be open to everyone of all standards. Plus there will be a free BBQ
afterwards and the end of season shed closing party. Sign up at:
format will vary depending on numbers (and wind on the day) but I
reckon we'll have some heats (two races per heat) followed by some
finals - both for the top sailors from each heat and also a plate final
kind of thing . Everyone will get to race multiple times and there will
probably be prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Top Beginner, Plate Winner, Tasar
Winner, Best Capsize). When you sign up, include which boat you want to
sail in. We will be using some kind of yardstick to benefit the Radials
and disadvantage the Racing Lasers. For those with a powerboat license
let us know, as I'm sure Alex will want some company in the powerboat
and help with timings at various times during the afternoon. People can
also race in the Tasars for even more racing action. And bring beer!

3. Match Racing with UNSW - Saturday 28th April - Sunday 29th April
If
you fancy doing some racing that weekend instead then UNSW Sailing have
invited us to compete in some match racing with them. Match racing is
the kind of racing we'll encounter at UniGames. UNSW will provide the
boats - possibly Pacers which are the 2-man UniGames boats. So lots of
relevant experience there for those interested. Costs are likely to be
$500. The club may be able to make a small contribution. Contact myself
or Krystina if you're keen and we'll get an idea of interest.

Nick
ANUSC Commodore
