<blockquote type="cite" cite><font face="Arial" size="-1">Background:
Forestry biotechnology research in Australia is making some exciting
progress in discovering important genes that control tree growth and
wood development, and using these genes to help breed trees with
highly desirable traits. All this is being achieved without the
production of GM trees. But Š without using GM, is Australian
forestry missing out on some large advances in tree breeding which
might place Australia behind countries that are embracing GM
trees?</font></blockquote>
