I would like to draw your attention to the upcoming opportunity to become a Learning Community Ambassador for 2015.

This staff role replacing the current residential scholarship is open to all undergraduate ANU students regardless of your housing situation so I would encourage all active members within the LC to apply if you have the passion to be involved next year.

The remuneration is $31.09 per hour up to 5 hours per week over 26 weeks of the year with a maximum of $4160 for each Ambassador.

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The educational philosophy of ANU is that students are part of a community of scholars (see ANU by 2020<http://about.anu.edu.au/__documents/strategic-plans/anu-2020-strategy.pdf>).  Learning Communities support this philosophy by bringing staff and students with a common interest together; creating opportunities for collaborative learning; and enabling engagement with themes that may be within or outside a member's area of study.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS:

Position Dimension & Relationships:

The Learning Community Ambassador is a casual position within the Student Experience and Career Development team within the Division of Student Life.

Role Statement:

Learning Community Co-ordinators are responsible for actively providing opportunities for their Learning Community members to share and develop their mutual interest in the theme of the Learning Community. Duties include:

*         Maintaining social media pages relevant to the Learning Community
*         Circulating an email newsletter to Learning Community members
*         Liaising with staff and students to organise Learning Community meetings/events
*         Writing an annual report on Learning Community activities
*         Regularly meeting with SECD staff to discuss progress
*         Complying with all ANU policies and procedures, and in particular those relating to work health and safety and equal opportunity


SELECTION CRITERIA:

1.                 Enrolment in a degree at ANU.

2.                 Experience as a member of a Learning Community or similar experience such as Clubs and Societies.

3.                 Organisational skills including problem solving, facilitation, and event management.

4.                 Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with staff and students and to work well with others.

5.                 A demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context



The Learning Community Ambassadors are multiple casual positions within the Student Experience and Career Development team, in the Division of Student Life.

Take the lead and share with others your passion for learning. Become a Learning Community Ambassador and build a community of scholars interested in exploring ideas. Learning Communities offer both the means to integrate the research and educational aspects of the University and offer students a distinctive learning experience.

There are eleven Learning Community Ambassador positions available for 2015 in the following learning communities: Aid & Development, Asia-Pacific, Creative Arts, Diversity, History, Language & Culture, Medicine Health & Wellbeing, Middle East, Rhetoric, Indigenous and Sustainability.

Please complete a 1 page expression of interest that explains your passion for one of the above Learning Community subjects, the skills that you will bring to the role, and your vision for the Learning Community in 2015.
