Lectureships
School of Earth Sciences, James Cook University, Qld, Australia
The School of Earth Sciences is seeking experienced academics to
lead research and teaching in the general fields of geochemistry and
sedimentology. In geochemistry we wish to complement and coordinate
programs with highly active research groups within the school including
economic geology, marine geology, and structure/metamorphism. In
sedimentology we wish to complement the school's research group in marine
geology. Successful applicants will be expected to develop and sustain
research programmes in the disciplines specified and relate these
disciplines to the major research groups, plus participate in undergraduate
teaching and in the supervision of higher degree candidates in those
fields. Candidates must possess a PhD in a relevant area and, preferably,
extensive research experience. Favoured areas include geochemistry applied
to soft and/or hard rock geology, and sedimentology/stratigraphy or
sedimentology of modern and ancient marine and non-marine depositional
systems. In addition, candidates must have a proven ability to organise
and co-ordinate research programmes, and a strong track record of
completing research projects and publishing results. Appointees would be
required to cooperate with the other research groups in the School and with
the Economic Geology Research Unit. We intend making appointments as soon
as possible providing funds are available.
Two positions are available within the range academic levels B to D
