HYDROGEOLOGIST

The Saskatchewan Research Council is a Saskatchewan crown corporation that
is widely respected for the products and services it provides to businesses
in Saskatchewan and around the world. Our purpose is to "create wealth
through the responsible application of science and technology to assist
Saskatchewan industry to be globally competitive." This position is located
in Saskatoon.

To complement its Hydrogeology Section, the Saskatchewan Research Council is
looking for a

Hydrogeologist with significant knowledge of Quaternary geology. The
candidate will participate in existing applied research projects, such as
developing frameworks for groundwater management and the preparation of GIS
based geology and groundwater maps, and pursue the development and delivery
of her/his own projects.

The ideal candidate will: have a Masters or Ph.D in Hydrogeology with 3 to 5
years of relevant experience and a demonstrated ability to initiate and
manage projects. In addition, a strong background in digital databases, and
in the application of GIS in hydrogeological and geological investigations
are desirable. Experience in costing and negotiating projects, and
management of projects would be an asset. Strong communication skills, the
ability to work with clients and staff effectively and the ability to
explain complex technical issues and results is essential. Other
requirements include: effective leadership, interpersonal and management
skills; analytical thinking and problem solving/decision making skills; and
marketing and promotion skills.
