The Department of Geography and Anthropology at Louisiana State
University invites applications for two positions in Climatology and
Physical Geography that could be of interest to colleagues in Quaternary
science. The following advertisements have recently appeared
in the AAG newsletter.
LOUISIANA, BATON ROUGE 70803. Louisiana State University. The Department
of Geography and Anthropology seeks applicants for two tenure-track
positions beginning August 2002. Pending final budgetary approval we
anticipate hiring at the assistant professor level for climatology, and
at associate or full professor for physical. The university has targeted
the Department for an infusion of funding to enhance new faculty hires
and graduate student recruitment Successful applicants will be expected
to teach undergraduate and graduate students in their specialties. Ph.D.
required, but ABD's considered for instructor level. Reviews will begin
on 1 December 2001 and will continue until a candidate is selected.
Position 1. Climatology. Assistant Professor. Additional qualifications
desired: research and teaching interests in some combination of synoptic
climatology, hydroclimatology, bioclimatology, climate change and
variability, global change, tropical meteorology, and coastal climate
hazards; strong analytical and quantitative skills. Successful applicant
will have opportunity to participate in the activities of the Southern
Regional Climate Center, which is NOAA funded and housed in our
Department.
Position 2. Physical. Associate or Full Professor. Additional
qualifications desired: senior scholar with interests in physical
geography. All physical geography specialties considered including
expertise in geomorphology, hydrology, soils, biogeography, or climate
with theoretical interest in their relationships. Research interest and
field work in environments such as the lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf
coastal zone are especially desirable. NOV 01-223.
