Postdoctoral Research Associate Position, Geography Department, University of Oregon: Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position to participate in an NSF-funded investigation of climate-fire-vegetation linkages in the mid-latitude
forests of western North and South America. The successful candidate will help develop a fire-history network in western North America and Patagonia, comparable to existing vegetation-history networks but of higher temporal resolution; analyze new records
in data-poor regions that will facilitate regional, continental, and inter-hemispheric comparisons; and train visiting researchers in charcoal analytical procedures. Ph.D. in Quaternary paleoecology and/or paleoclimatology required at time of appointment.
The position will become available 6/16/02. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated research experience with high-resolution charcoal analysis, quantitative methods, and database applications. Spanish proficiency is desirab!
