23 DEGREES SOUTH:-
The archaeology and environmental history of Southern Deserts
15-18 January 2003, National Museum, Canberra.
This conference is the final symposium of the UNESCO sponsored IGCP 413 program "Understanding future dryland developments from past dynamics" and is also an inter-congress of the World Archaeological Congress. It is an important milestone in desert research as it represents the first time that leading archaeologists and Quaternarists working in the deserts of southern Africa, Australia and South America will meet as a group.
Further details are available at www.nma.gov.au under 'Exhibitions and Events'. A registration form and provisional program are attached.
