From Dennis Mather <dmz at ansto.gov.au>:
The Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE) offers
a scholarship to each of its member universities to enable a nominated
student to attend the Winter School on "Nuclear techniques applied to
natural processes". This program is held at the Lucas Heights Science and
Technology Centre, about 30km south of Sydney.
The scholarship is open to all 3rd year undergraduate students in the
physical and biological sciences, engineering and medical faculties, or any
faculty in which knowledge of nuclear techniques of analysis would be of
interest. Such techniques have applications in areas ranging from
agriculture to zoology and include physics, chemistry, biology,
environmental science, geography, geology, anthropology, sociology, and
veterinary studies (to name just some).
Dear Colleague
Every year the AINSE Winter School is deemed a great success by those who
attend - just ask the student from your university who came last year.
Applications are now open. If you know a senior undergraduate student who
would be interested in attending please get them to approach your AINSE
Councillor for an application form. (Don't know who that is? Check on

More information about the Winter School can be obtained from the AINSE
Home Page or from the Councillor.
