Dear list members,

The Australasian Quaternary list has migrated to a new, more sophisticated,
mailing list server. The address to send messages to the list will remain
the same (AQUAlist at anu.edu.au).

It is now much easier for subscribers to manage their own membership. Go to
the following web address:

http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/aqualist

This address is repeated in each message sent to the list.

To unsubscribe from Aqualist, or change your email address, enter your
subscription email address. At the next page, follow the simple instructions.

Messages from non-subscribers to the list (such as advertisers) are
automatically rejected, as are attachments. Please contact the list
administrator to make attachments available on the web site. Not everyone
will want a 1 MB conference flyer for example. Note that the subscriber
list is only available to the list administrator, regardless of whether you
choose to conceal your address. List content is not moderated, but members
are encouraged to be prudent with the content of their mail and the
relevance to the list. Replies to messages sent to the list are directed to
their senders, rather than to the entire list. This greatly reduces the
number of personal emails being broadcast.

Vacation messages or overloaded mailboxes may result in your automatic
'unsubscription'. The list will automatically invite you to rejoin (when
you attend to your mail).

With so many emails being sent these days, it is useful to direct list
messages to a mailbox away from the IN box. Aqualist now has an identifier
in the subject line that allows you to do this. To filter messages,
highlight a list message, use the "Special -> Make filter" command (in
Eudora), ensure "subject" contains "[Aqualist]" and direct to a new mailbox
called "Aqualist".

regards,

Tim
