Australian Cotton Cooperative Research Centre, Narrabri

The Australian Cotton Growers Research Association in partnership with the 
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Australian Cotton 
Cooperative Research Centre (Cotton CRC) is seeking an experienced 
environmental scientist to lead the cotton industry s environmental science 
and education development program. The successful applicant will be 
responsible for providing technical advice to and training of extension 
staff, private consultants and growers in the industry.  Particular focus 
will be given to riverine and groundwater-dependent ecosystems, soil and 
water quality, salinity, vegetation and biodiversity management. The 
adoption of integrated area wide management approaches to natural resource 
management will be a priority. Activities will complement targets developed 
by Catchment Management Boards in Queensland and NSW.

Key Skills required:

Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources or Environmental Science. 
Postgraduate qualifications in environmental management. Research 
experience in aquatic or terrestrial vegetation and/or biodiversity 
management in agricultural environments. Experience in leading 
collaborative research and extension programs in environmental management. 
Knowledge of key natural resource management issues facing agriculture. 
Demonstrated expertise in project management, planning, evaluation and 
report writing. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Temporary position until June 2006 with possible extension.
