Dear Listmembers,
this might be a silly question, but I was wondering if there is any evidence for the presence of C4 plants in South Australia, sometime in the last 100,000 years?
The reason why I'm asking is that I've analysed three soil profiles (red brown earths) from South Australia for d13C and they all show a significant increase in d13C values (from definetely C3 to around -20permil).
Dates from OSL measurements suggest that these soil intervals with the enriched values are not likely to be older than 50ka (probably more like 20-30ka).
Unfortunately, we don't have any 14C data on these.
If you would like access to the data, please contact me directly at:

Thank you.
