At the Institute of Geography a position as associate professor (alternatively
assistant professor) within the field of geomorphology is open to
appointment from 1st August 2004 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The ideal applicant shall contribute to research activities in geomorphology
with special emphasis on field based research in coastal and aeolian
geomorphology, littoral processes and coastal zone management.
Research must comply with the following keywords from the institute?s
strategic programme: Dynamic geomorphology - covering sediment
transport and landscape development in coastal, estuarine, fluvial and
aeolian environments and is expected to contribute new impulses to this
research.
The applicant is expected to contribute to teaching in broad geomorphologic
fields, under this coastal zone problems in a global perspective, coastal zone
management, and project orientated teaching in physical geography.
According to the Ministerial Circular on Job Structure appointment to the
position as associate professor requires a documented scientific production
at an international level. Appointment to the position as assistant professor
requires a Ph.D. or corresponding scientific qualifications.
Appointment to the position as assistant professor is temporary and limited
to 3 years. The successful applicant to the assistant professorship must
attend a course in educational training (adjunktpædagogikum).
Terms of appointment and payment according to the agreement between the
Ministry of Finance and AC (The Danish Confederation of Professional
Associations) on Academics in the State. In addition to the salary based on
seniority the successful applicant will receive and annual pensionable
supplement of DKK 70.447 (Associate Professorship) and DKK 42.654
(Assistant Professorship) (as per 1st October 2003). Negotiation for further
supplement will be possible.
If the applicant for the position as associate professor has not acquired
sufficient teaching experience through the appointment as assistant
professor or acquired corresponding teaching experience, appointment will
be made on probation for up to 1½ years.

>A complete list of publications with indication of which papers the
applicant considers particularly relevant (max. 10)
>3 copies of each of the selected papers considered particularly relevant
together with (as for publications with more than one author): A
statement of which part of the work, that the applicant is responsible for
>Documentation for teaching experience and other qualifications
It should be noted that:
>The applicants will be notified about the composition of the
assessment committee
>The assessment committee may require supplementary
documentation, which the applicant must then provide
>The assessment committee may base the assessment on any
publication on the publication list
>Letters of recommendation are not regarded as scientific material on
which the assessment may be based. However they may be taken into
account when the Dean decides to whom to offer the position
>The applicants may be summoned for an interview and/or requested
to give a trial lecture
>When the assessment committee?s report is submitted, each applicant
will receive only the part of the report relating to him/herself, as
information about the other applicants according to the rules is
confidential and may not be revealed to other applicants.
It should also be noted that if the applicants want their publications and
other material returned by mail, it will be sent C.O.D.
The assessment will be made as follows: decision on whether there are
qualified applicants for the assistant professorship will only be taken if
it has
been ascertained that there are no qualified applicants for the associate
professorship. The applicants must state whether they want to be assessed
in relation to the associate professorship and/or the assistant professorship.
It is a condition for the appointment, that the successful applicant within 12
months master Danish and English.

Deadline for applications: May 18th 2004 at 12:00 a.m. Material received
