Innovator then please let me know and I can pass on your details to Niall
Byrne, the Fresh Innovators Coordinator.

Dear Simon,

The Fresh Innovators are coming!

Next week we will be calling for nominations for Fresh Innovators. I'm
writing to seek your help to find suitable people.

Fresh Innovators is a new forum based on the success of Fresh Science.

Over the last six years Fresh Science has become established as a national
event. Each year 16 scientists in the early stages of their careers present
their research to the media and the general public. Their stories often
attract national and international attention with over 200 mentions of
Fresh Science stories in the media last year. We fly the selected
researchers to Melbourne and provide training and media support.

Fresh Innovators will give 16 young innovators national and international
media exposure. Instead of looking for early career researchers whose peer
reviewed science has received little or no public attention, we will be
looking for early career innovators people who have had an idea, made a
discovery, invented a device and who are on the way to ensuring that their
ideas will make difference. They may have a patent, have strong links with
industry, have set up their own business our view of innovation is broad
we re willing to consider almost anything.

The 16 winners will get an unforgettable crash course in presenting their
work to the media, the public and business.

These finalists will be flown to Sydney, given media and presentation
training and then for 4 days during the Australian Innovation Festival in
May, they will present to the media, students, the general public and
relevant business and government communities.

The stories of the 16 will be issued as press releases which have the
potential to generate both national and international media mentions well
after the event itself.

The Australian Government has just confirmed their support for Fresh
Innovators. We are currently finalising our selection criteria and will
write to you next week inviting nominations.

Kind regards,

Niall Byrne
