Honours Scholarships 2005
Interested in Environmental Change, Human Interactions and/or Spatial Analysis?

The GeoQuEST Research Centre at the University of Wollongong is offering up 
to four scholarships for fourth year Honours students in 2005. We seek 
outstanding students who would like to join our active group of 
postgraduate research students. Subject to merit, we aim to offer 
scholarships across the full span of GeoQuEST research interests (outlined 
below). Each scholarship is worth $2500. It can be taken as stipend, grant 
towards research expenses, or a combination thereof.


GeoQuEST

brings together outstanding researchers from the disciplinary traditions of 
Geography (both Physical and Human), Geology and Environmental Science 
(including Chemistry). They share central interests in Earth processes and 
environmental change, including human interactions.

GeoQuEST has internationally renowned expertise in and facilities for 
Quaternary Science and Geochronology, providing fundamental temporal 
frameworks for the understanding of global environmental change.

GeoQuEST is recognised for its innovative research on relationships between 
Environment and Society across timeframes from prehistory to the present.

GeoQuEST is leading UOW initiatives to apply cutting-edge Spatial 
Technologies to a range of research questions, working at scales from the 
local to the global.

How to apply:

Applicants should contact potential supervisors to discuss appropriate and 
feasible topics. The application should include:
    * Abbreviated CV (2 page max.) including evidence of academic results 
and demonstrating research potential
    * Research proposal (2 page max.) outlining intended project and its 
relationship to GeoQuEST research
    * Names and contact details for 2 academic referees

November, 2004. Successful applicants will be notified by 1 December, 2004.
