Dear Aqualist subscribers
In November you will have received a message alerting you to the
"Quaternary Climate Change" Symposium at next year's Australian Earth
Science Convention, to be held July 2-6, 2006 in Melbourne. The
present message is a reminder that abstracts for this meeting are due
on December 15, i.e. just a week away.
If you plan to submit an abstract, you can find the relevant info at
www.earth2006.org.au (move cursor to "program" to get scroll-down
menu with a link to "call for abstracts"). They want
(1) a short 100 word summary plus 20 word title (the sales pitch for
the program) and
(2) an extended abstract (up to 10 Mb if you want to add figures)
that can be typed into a down-loadable template. Obviously, this can
be made as long or short as you like. This extended abstract will go
onto the conference proceedings DVD
see the instructions for authors at the website for detailed info.
When submitting the abstracts, specify session C, Environmental &
Engineering Geosciences Symposium
Quaternary climate change
Conveners: Roland Maas, John Hellstrom and Peter Kershaw
A sound knowledge of Quaternary environmental change in and around
Australia is critical to understanding our climate as it functions
today, and enhances our ability to constrain possible future change.
This symposium aims to bring together researchers working on all
aspects of palaeoenvironmental change in the Australasian region,
over time-scales from the late Neogene to the recent past.
Hope to see you there
Roland Maas, John Hellstrom
