Dear all

We would like to draw your attention to a session on Quaternary
Geology/Climate Change etc. at the Australian Earth Science
Convention, to be held in July 2006 in Melbourne. This meeting is the
normal triennial Australian Geological Convention (AGC) organized by
Geol Soc Aust, but has been renamed for next year.

Although the meeting is traditionally about geology, Quaternary
themes are an important part of it. For example CRC-LEME have
sponsored a session at the last few meetings. Based on papers
presented at previous AGC's, we have set up the following session:

session C in the Environmental & Engineering Geosciences Symposium

Quaternary climate change
Conveners: Roland Maas, John Hellstrom and Peter Kershaw

A sound knowledge of Quaternary environmental change in and around
Australia is critical to understanding our climate as it functions
today, and enhances our ability to constrain possible future change.
This symposium aims to bring together researchers working on all
aspects of palaeoenvironmental change in the Australasian region,
over time-scales from the late Neogene to the recent past.

We invite submissions on a wide range of topics that fit within the
session theme. Deadline for submission of abstracts is mid-December
2005 (yes, I know, that hurts). Details of abstract submission and
registration, plus all other info, can be obtained on the AESC2006
website,

www.earth2006.org.au

note that abstracts should be submitted through the website, not sent
to the conveners

Hope to see you there

Roland Maas, John Hellstrom
