Dear Members,
We are looking for a recent Honours or MSc graduate with a background in fluvial geomorphology/sedimentology or Quaternary studies to take up an ARC Linkage Project PhD scholarship. The project is in partnership with the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA), which manages the storage and supply of water in the Sydney metropolitan area. The research will investigate the flood history of the Sydney Basin over the last 1000 years using floodplain deposits along the Nepean-Hawkesbury River system. The student will be based at the University of Newcastle and will receive a tax-free $33,000 p.a. stipend for 3.5 years, with the potential for a further $7,500 p.a. tax-free top-up for 2007-09 via an AINSE postgraduate award. This scholarship is available now. An Honours 1 or 2(I) or equivalent is essential.
