Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sedimentology (A307-06C)
Department of Geology, The University of Auckland.
As part of our plan to develop and strengthen interdisciplinary Earth
Sciences at The University of Auckland, we seek to fill a position in
Sedimentary System Studies. The level of appointment is anticipated to
be at lecturer or senior lecturer level, but more senior candidates may
be considered for entry at Associate Professor level. The candidate
will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: sequence
stratigraphy and sedimentary basin analysis, sediment transport and
depositional processes, biogeochemical processes in sedimentary
systems, or petroleum geology; and be proficient in field-focussed
studies of Mesozoic and Cenozoic basins. The position will complement
and support our current research strengths in volcanology, ore
deposits, geophysics and paleoenvironments. The candidate will develop
undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, supervise research
students, and develop an active externally funded research programme in
collaboration with other staff in the Geology department and beyond. A
PhD and appropriate post-doctoral or work equivalent experience are
required, as is evidence of a track record in teaching and research
track record, including a strong record of publication in international
journals.
Applications will be assessed from 17 July 2006, but subsequent
applications from suitable candidates will be considered until the
position is filled.
