We invite abstracts for the following session at the XVII INQUA
Congress (Cairns, Australia, 28 July - 3 August 2007):
The Australasian Quaternary Association (AQUA) biennial meeting session
Convenors: Henk Heijnis, (Australia), Timothy Barrows (Australia),
Peter Almond (New Zealand)
Being flat, dry and hot, Australia has evolved its own unique brand
of Quaternary science. The Australian landscape presents challenges
in terms of how to reconstruct past climates and environments but a
widespread, multi-disciplinary community is meeting these
difficulties. In New Zealand, a small but very productive community
is making its research known on the global stage.
This session will showcase some of the best current research in
Australasia. We welcome contributions in fields such as geomorphology
(especially arid and cold climate), palynology, dating, geochemistry
and archaeology. There will be a special invited keynote address by
Prof. John Chappell (The Australian National University) and an oral
as well as a poster session. Students are encouraged to apply for an
AQUA travel grant to attend the meeting and present in this session.
Extended abstracts from the session will be published in Quaternary
Australasia.
Abstracts should be submitted to via the conference web site
<http://www.inqua2007.net.au/>http://www.inqua2007.net.au/ (The
deadline for abstract submission is 31st January 2007).
