Lectureship in Physical Geography
(The terrestrial carbon cycle)
Salary - £33,101 - £40,711 per annum
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to
fill a lectureship in physical geography
supported initially by the inter-institutional
SAGES (Scottish Alliance for Geoscience,
Environment and Society) initiative. SAGES
co-ordinates 230 scientists in 9 universities
across Scotland in collaborative research
programmes to understand and predict the
interactions between climate change, the Earth
system and human activity. This appointment will
contribute to Theme 2 of SAGES The terrestrial carbon cycle.
You will join the Environmental Change Research
Group within the School and will be expected to
develop research initiatives both within the
School and in collaboration with our SAGES partners.
You will have completed a PhD in a relevant
discipline, and will preferably have teaching
experience and a developing profile of academic
publication. You will have research interests in
the general area of terrestrial carbon cycle
science. A track record of research involving the
measurement of carbon stocks/fluxes in the
terrestrial environment, prediction of the
impacts of climate and land-use change on the
terrestrial carbon balance and/or the development
of adaptive environmental management strategies
to minimize carbon emissions will be a particular
advantage. You will also have a commitment to
teaching on the physical geography degree programmes.
The post will start on 1 September 2007, or as soon as possible thereafter.
