Conference: Adelaide Conference on Mathematical Evolutionary Biology 2008
We are pleased to announce the Adelaide Conference on Mathematical
Evolutionary Biology, the first of an annual series that will take
place within <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Blanche Cave,
Naracoorte Caves National Park, South Australia on March 25-30, 2008
(Comm. Vac. Week). This 5 day meeting is designed to bring together
mathematicians and biologists from Australia and internationally, in
an informal collaborative atmosphere limited to just 50 places. The
meeting is closely modelled on the very successful Phylogenetics
Meeting series held annually in New Zealand, which has resulted in
the development of a very strong and interactive biomathematics
community. Four of the leading members of the New Zealand group will
help lead and direct the Naracoorte meeting, and facilitate
communication between the mathematical and biological fields - which
currently otherwise have little interaction within Australia. The
meeting will feature short talks with extended breaks to encourage
interaction and discussion, social BBQ's and other events (local wine
tours, cave trips), and a field trip day.
Key topic areas will include phylogenetics, evolutionary rates and
dates, coalescent models, population genetics, phylogenetic networks,
evolutionary theory/models, search algorithms.<?xml:namespace prefix

The organisers cordially invite to you to attend this conference and
registration is now open. Please register early as attendance is very
limited. Students are encouraged to attend and present research talks.
Important Notes

Accommodation: Several local hotel/motels are offering negotiated
discount rates for the conference. Refer to the conference website
for details. Please ensure you book accommodation early to safeguard
