Position No. 990 - Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Geoscience -
Climatology

General Information
Are you interested in playing a key role in enhancing existing research
strengths of the Environmental and Climate Change Research Group which
include palaeoclimatology, hydrology, geomorphology/landscape modeling,
atmospheric circulation and climate change modeling? Included in this
role is the opportunity to contribute to teach in the Bachelor of
Science and Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management degree
programs. You will have a demonstrated ability to teach climatology
including one or more of the following: synoptic
climatology/meteorology, air pollution, hydroclimatology and climate
change (including modeling); and you will possess a strong track record
in research and research training in the field of geoscience -
climatology with internationally refereed publications and competitive
research grants.

The position is available on a full-time, continuing basis. Women are

Position Description
Duties Include:
* Contributing to a vibrant research program that attracts
considerable external competitive funding and research higher degree
students.
* Contributing to the development and execution of high quality
teaching delivery in the environmental components of undergraduate
degree programs principally the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of
Environmental Science & Management.
* Participating in the maintenance of academic standards and general
administration of the School of Environmental and Life Sciences.
Selection Criteria
* PhD with demonstrated research experience in fields of study
relevant to the above position description.
* A strong publication record, relative to opportunity, in a field
complementary to the Discipline*s existing research strengths in
geoscience - climatology.
* Demonstrated capacity to create and teach innovative new courses on
climatology and climate modelling.
* Excellent interpersonal skills ensuring effective communication
with staff and students
* Ability to work independently and collectively as a member of a
cohesive team
* Ability to co-ordinate undergraduate courses
* Capacity for quality curriculum development at undergraduate
levels
* Enthusiasm for supervising honours and postgraduate students

Additional Criteria for appointment to Level C
* a track record of success in obtaining competitive research
funding
* a track record in significant research publications in high impact
journals.
* a track record of successful outcomes in research training of
higher degree students
* a track record of substantial teaching experience, course
coordination and curriculum development.

The Position Classification Standard for Lecturer, Level B should be

The Position Classification Standard for Senior Lecturer, Level C
should be viewed before applying.

Conditions and Benefits
Academic Level B - $67,689 to $80,382 per annum.
Academic Level C - $82,919 to 95,613 per annum.
Salary level within this range will be dependent on the qualifications
and experience of the successful applicant. Compulsory contributory
superannuation is a condition of employment plus generous employer
contribution of 17%. A range of flexible salary packaging options is
also available.
